Teacher Assistant – LHA
The Teacher Assistant is responsible for supporting the lead teacher in providing a safe, nurturing, and stimulating learning environment for young children. The ideal candidate will assist with classroom activities, supervise children, and help maintain a positive educational setting that encourages social, emotional, and cognitive development.
Responsibilities and Duties:

Assist the lead teacher in implementing lesson plans and educational activities that promote child development.

Supervise children to ensure a safe and supportive learning environment.

Help set up and organize classroom materials, including learning aids and play equipment.

Support children with personal care needs such as toileting, handwashing, and mealtime routines.

Encourage positive behavior through appropriate guidance and conflict resolution strategies.

Foster positive relationships with children, parents, and staff to create a welcoming classroom environment.

Participate in observing and documenting children’s progress and behaviors.

Assist in maintaining a clean, organized, and hazard-free learning space.

Attend staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development workshops as required.

Manage student behavior in the classroom by invoking approved disciplinary procedures
Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent; associate’s degree in early childhood education or related field preferred.

Previous experience working with preschool-aged children is highly desirable.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Patience, empathy, and a genuine interest in early childhood development.
-
Ability to follow instructions and work collaboratively with teaching staff.
-
CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
